Fractured Before Transit (2023)
A series of representations of communities that have been forced to pack up their location-based identity into a box.
A mini outcome during a process of iteration as I explored the physical and conceptual ideas surrounding ‘What is a box?’.
Locations include: Flotta (Orkney, Scotland), Oradour-sur-Glane (France), Pripyat (Ukraine), Getsemani (Cartagena, Colombia), Glenrio (New Mexico, USA), Tawergha (Libya) and Aghdam (Azerbaijan).
Fractured Before Transit (Poem)
I ask you to converse with the displaced,
That cannot look back,
The communities that cannot be based,
And therefore harder to track.
The towns no longer a home,
Not due to be used,
The people forced to roam,
And live on bruised.
Whether it was due to push or pull,
The choice was not there,
A place memories full,
An identity tear.
